Katazome Bottled Dolls letter pad

In Japan, Ippitsu-sen refers to a type of Japanese letter-writing pad that can be written vertically or horizontally. The pads are common in Japan and are normally used for short casual letters, or as message cards that accompany gifts.

These Ippitsu-sen are very unusual as they are printed using a traditional Japanese stencil printing technique called katazome created by artist Mihoko Seki. Made from Mino (famous for its paper-making) washi, the paper has a gentle texture, and there is a nostalgic feel to the overall design. The theme features a bottled doll motifs with 4 different designs.
