Designer and musician Daiki Sakae is the founder of FUGUQI. And since 2010, he been making planters and tableware made from wood – mainly Japanese cedar – in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. The name FUQUGI derived form a tree called common garcinia, an evergreen tree often found in Okinawa, where the designer Sakae originates from. FUQUGI nature-inspired products are all handcrafted and they are made to emphasise the soft grains of the beautiful Japanese cedar wood.
